See You Around Karen

Friday, December 28, 2012

Today is my friend K's last day at work. After 16 years with our office, she has decided to resign. The decision did not come easily as all of us, her friends, were convincing her to stay.

Wag muna!

Five years na lang may pension ka na kasama ang medical insurance.

Pwede ka naman lumipat na lang ng department.

Mami miss mo kami!

None of what we said could change her mind. It took her a year to arrive to this point but arrive she did. Her mind is made up. All we can do now is support her decision and cheer her on whatever course she takes.

It's the holiday season and most staff are on leave.  On her last day with us, we had a two hour lunch at Sumo San in Megamall. No worries about the long lunch since there were no bosses anyway. I was on leave by the way but joined them along with the Twerp.  We got our orders out of the way so we could get on to talking.

K joined our office two years before I did. On my first day at our department, being introduced around to everyone, she stood out as she was very friendly and welcoming. It was very easy to talk to her and to approach her if I needed help with anything. She was the one who said that she recognized me from PNB where we both worked previously. That she also worked there. I was surprised. I'm not good at remembering faces. But I did recall her after a while and I remember even talking to her. We eventually moved to other departments but kept up our friendship. I'm sure that this is not the end of our friendship. I have few close friends but those friends I keep for life. Goodluck K!

2013 Starbucks Diary

Friday, November 23, 2012

Once again, I joined my friends in completing the sticker required for the 2013 Starbucks Diary. You might ask, like I ask some of my friends, if I actually use these diaries. Yes, I use them as notebooks for to-dos, reminders and notes. This time though, I will actually use it as a diary because my office has discontinued giving its staff yearly diaries. Sucks to use it for work but very efficient for me to have a diary for work.

This year has a magnet closure and they come in three colors: black, white, and green. I like the white and the material used can be wiped clean in case it gets dirty. As before, there are coupons which can be used every month for a variety of Starbucks products.

Our Lunchtime Habit

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Born out of our frustration in sticking with our gym schedules to lose weight, three of us decided to join our company dentist in running during lunchtime at the multipurpose gym at the office. There are 4 badminton courts there in use during lunchtime but we use the side to do our running.

We go at our own pace. I try to do running 5x around the courts then 2x brisk walking. Every week we will add to the difficulty whether more runs around the court or a faster pace. In between we do some exercises such as bench dips, lunges, and push ups. At the end of the workout we do the abs such as the plank, bicycle and crunches.

The best part is taking a shower after our workout at the newly renovated shower room. I love the shower head!

Friday Night with Friends

Monday, March 22, 2010

Our recently married friend Kler invited us over to their place in Fort Bonifacio. The condo unit was renovated by her hubby who's an architect. One part of the wall was all mirror and gave the illusion of space.

He also changed the lighting and added this blue light for effect. Kler hated it saying it looked like a bachelor's pad, which it was before they married :)

This year 2010....

Thursday, January 7, 2010

I resolve to

  1. Attend church service every week
  2. Eat healthy, more vegetables and less meat
  3. Simplify
  4. No more emotional spending
  5. No more multitasking, focus on the task at hand for better results
  6. Avoid going online at home
  7. Drink 8 glasses of water every day
  8. Reduce, reduce, reduce debts
  9. Live in the moment and savor whatever the activity is
  10. Be more giving

Just ten. I hope I can do even half of it :)

A Dozen Red Roses

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

I've always thought that giving flowers was a waste of money. Better to give chocolates or have dinner in a nice restaurant. Probably because I never got any flowers hahahaha....

Yesterday, P gave me a dozen red roses for my birthday. Wow...it's nice pala to get flowers :) I didn't have a vase to put them in so I improvised and used a jar.

He also wanted to have dinner in a nice restaurant. However, the TV was showing badminton matches from the Beijing Olympics and we wanted to follow the Taufik/Wong Choong Han match through the livescore. We had food delivered instead from Max.

I would always be the one ordering whenever we wanted food delivered as he had difficulty communicating with the order taker through the phone. But last night I wanted him to do the ordering. It's more special I told him. He had no choice.....hahaha......took him a while but it turned out alright.
p.s.-taufik lost :(
