Conquering Fear

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I would love to think that I am a daring person but I'm not. I'm not a scaredy cat and I found that I can be courageous when needed but I wouldn't be someone to jump off airplanes or go bungee jumping. I like roller coasters but don't know if I would try the one where your legs are hanging with nothing under you.

Anyway, I wrote a few posts ago that we wanted to try the zipline when we were in Coron but Via, who badly wanted to try it, was not allowed. She's too small. I kinda breathed a sigh of relief that I would not have to get on that thing. But then we went to Tagaytay and saw another zipline. This time Via can go on it, on Daddy's back. I went and paid for it, climbed up the stairs and all the while there's a debate going on in my head that went like, I don't want to go....but you're the one who asked if they wanted to try it.....yes, but I didn't think Via would be allowed....well they're looking forward to it.....but it's so high and those trees and rocks below won't let us live if we you want to look chicken in Via's and P's, but..but...... By this time, I was already bundled and strapped and had no choice. A moment later we were pushed out into space. There's no turning back.

It went rather quickly. The zip takes all of 20 seconds. Then we were across . We went back by Cable Car.

Boy, am I glad I didn't back out. It was a great feeling after to know I was afraid but conquered my fear.

Thanks Mommy Maye

Jellybelly,  September 14, 2012 at 12:50 AM

It's funny how the little ones are fearless and it's the adults that are afraid :)

Jellybelly,  September 14, 2012 at 12:51 AM

They say don't look down. It works :)

Spanish Pinay September 14, 2012 at 4:42 AM

Oh boy, congratulations on conquering your fears! I on the other hand is not the bravest girl out there but yes, zipline is one of the things I want to try :) I love roller coasters too by the way. But then with age, I think I'd get dizzy a lot easier now. But when I was younger (I sound like a very old woman), I would try all those daring rides!

verna,  September 14, 2012 at 11:38 AM

That's on my bucket list! :)
I'm dying to try that. Haha.
But whoa! Your Via's position was pretty scary. But yeah, I don't think they would allow that if that wasn't safe in the first place.

aby September 14, 2012 at 9:56 PM

Dominique@Dominique's Desk September 14, 2012 at 11:25 PM

Good on you to overcome your fear of heights. I too would like to try a zipline. It looks so fun.

Jellybelly,  September 15, 2012 at 2:50 AM

They asked me if Via will be on my back or Daddy's back. I said Daddy's back. He's stronger that me in know. She's pretty secure with the harness though.

Jellybelly,  September 15, 2012 at 2:52 AM

We do become less daring as we age :)

Olga September 15, 2012 at 4:43 AM

Tried zipline once in Boracay but I sure don't want to repeat that brothers loved it though and wanted to it over and over again. Your cable car ride looks fun ;0

Krizza September 16, 2012 at 5:10 AM

Glad that u made it! I also have fear of heights. Normally, I wouldn't dare to try yung mga ganyang adventurous activities. Di ko ata talaga kaya eh. :)

Mom Michelle September 17, 2012 at 10:24 PM

You should congratulate yourself for conquering your fear and enjoying the ride with your daughter. We had the chance to go to Tagaytay zipline also. My two older kids enjoyed it so much. I wish I'd joined but I had the smaller ones to look after to at that time. Next time hopefully :-) September 19, 2012 at 9:13 AM

Great experience. Me and my daughter tried it as well, above the sea.

tyna quimpo September 19, 2012 at 10:53 PM
