Sabbath School Lesson for September

Sunday, September 4, 2011

A new month and a new memory verse to learn. This month's bible story is about baby Moses. As always, the class starts with welcoming everyone to class, going around shaking hands. Then the missionary boat and the 2 bear coin banks come out for the offering. I always give Via paper money and some coins to put in the boat and the bear coin banks.  Prayers for the offering are said after the children are done putting in their offering.

The teacher starts to tell the story of baby Moses. How his mother, big sister Miriam, and big brother Aaron loved him and were very happy when he came. Little baby dolls, basins and a wash cloth are given to the children for pretend bathing of baby Moses.

Baby Moses needed to be kept hidden and when he was getting bigger and harder to hide, his mother made a wicker basket to put him in and let the river carry him. Baskets and paint brushes are given out for the children to pretend making the basket for baby Moses.

After the bible story, it's time for the memory verse. I promised Via a prize if she says the memory verse out loud for everyone to hear.

Yay, she's able to do it consistently now. She was first able to say the memory verse May or was it June, but she just mumbled it and no one can hear. I noticed they give out prizes on the last Saturday of the month for children who can say the memory verse and it motivated her. So I now give her a prize on the first Saturday. Why wait for the last Saturday?   It worked too :) Here's Via with the prize I promised her, a kaleidoscope.

I'm happy that she enjoys Sabbath School that she looks forward to it during the week.

Making Sabbath School activities into some sort of interactive fun games will really make kids remember the "lessons" more. I'm sure attending Sabbath school helped a lot in making Via to be more outgoing.

How very sweet that she looks forward to it and is remembering her Bible verse. What a blessing to hear your child say Bible verses!
