Finally got my Ixus!

Thursday, October 30, 2008

P just got back from visiting his family in Indonesia and look what he got me! Now I don't have to make do with my old Sony digicam or my camera phone.

He also brought me Martabak, a sort pancake-like snack. I first got a taste of it last June when we went to Malang. It's so delicious! You can choose the filling you want like chocolate, cheese, etc. This one is cheese cos I love cheese.

I forgot to take a picture of the martabak. Only the box was left when I remembered :)

The Third Trimester of Pregnancy

Friday, October 17, 2008

My first and second trimesters have been relatively easy and I've been very thankful for it. Now that I'm in my third trimester (31 weeks) , I'm hoping I won't have too many problems as well. My blood sugar level is normal - no gestational diabetes; blood pressure is normal; no shortness of breath. I have only two concerns so far. First, it's so difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep. I've tried many things and so far what worked was propping up my upper body so I'm sleeping in a sort of reclined position. Second, my legs are always tired. I've gained 33 pounds so far and my legs are feeling every single pound of it. I feel like I'm walking around with 15 pound weights strapped around each ankle. By the end of the day, my legs feel like they've been through a tough workout. Oh, I'm also having some swelling and I'm trying to drink more water and putting up my legs to reduce the swelling. Two more months to go, I can't wait to get it over with and have these discomforts end.

Pregnant Massage

Monday, October 13, 2008

P & I have been wanting to try out the home service massage and last night we did. Aside from the usual massages, the Asian Massage also offered pregnant massage. I usually get a massage when I have a headache and sore neck and back muscles. Now that am pregnant, sleeping on my side all the time made my butt and hip sore and I’ve been having mild cramps in my legs.  So we called Asian Massage. The therapist arrived promptly within 30 minutes of our call. One hour massage cost P300.
P went first because I wanted to go right to sleep after my massage and he still had to pull another all nighter of studying. After he was done he looked like he just wanted to go to sleep. The therapist was very professional with very soothing voice and manner. I asked if she was a physical therapist and she said she was but not all of them in Asian Massage. She gave me advice on how to cope with swelling, eating the right food, etc. I was not very satisfied with the massage though because I prefer a hard massage whereas she was very gentle. I didn’t ask her to make it harder though because I thought maybe a hard massage should be not done on pregnant women. In any case, I slept well last night so it was also effective. P however, was not that happy as he also wanted hard massages. He says he preferred the blind massage. We always went to the blind massage in Galleria. I guess next time we will try their home massage.

Eyesore

Friday, October 3, 2008

A few days ago, an ISO inspection team went around our division inspecting workstations if they conformed to ISO standards. They were impressed at how uncluttered and clean my workstation was until they saw this behind me....

I explained that this side of the building faced the afternoon sun and it was really giving me and my seatmate terrible headaches. We tried asking  maintenance to do something, double blinds or provide darker tint or something. However, they said nothing can be done as there is already tint behind the blinds..blah..blah..blah...

So we did what we could. Bought cartolina to provide some cover. But it wasn't enough so we used whatever was available like foil and scratch paper.

They said they will recommend a more ISO conforming solution. I sure hope so. We're waiting to see if it happens.
